We offer both standard and hydro jet drain cleaning, giving us the experience and technical horsepower needed to get the job done right!
We started in 1934 as a plumbing company. We have evolved over the years to include heating, cooling, and other commercial and residential HVAC services, but plumbing is where we started and remains an area of expertise for us. With nearly 100 years of experience, you can trust our experience to get the job done right.
We’ve invested in the latest video inspection technology so that we can clearly view your drain line, piping, and sewer connections. If there’s something causing a back up, we’ll find it.
Repair or replacement can be done by either trenching or replacing some or all the piping to include cleanouts on the exterior of the home for easy accessibility, or a trench less method that either pulls a liner or sprays a substance coating the interior of the existing pipe.

Sewer backups are an unfortunate but common problem in U.S. cities and towns. Although municipal departments make every effort to prevent such incidents, they still may occur. The following information is offered to help property owners and residents understand why backups happen, how they can be prevented, and what steps citizens should take if a sewer backup affects their property.
Sanitary sewer overflows can be caused by a number of factors. They usually involve sewer pipe blockages in either main sewer lines or service laterals (lines between buildings and the main line). Causes may include pipe breaks or cracks due to tree roots, system deterioration, insufficient system capacity due to residential or commercial growth, or construction mishaps. In home and office plumbing systems, the main cause is accumulation of grease, tree roots, hair, or solid materials, such as disposable diapers or sanitary napkins that are too large for waste water pipes to handle. Such materials may cause major backups in City lines as well as in residents’ lateral line.
James Vito Plumbing offers Hydro Jet drain cleaning for clogged drains or sewers in your home or office. Hydro jet drain cleaning is especially effective if you have a drain or sewer line that has been clogged over time with heavy- duty residue like grease, soap or sand. After many years these items build up in your drains and eventually close up the pipe so that it only partially drains or drains very slowly.
If you own a restaurant or have a commercial building with a floor drain James Vito can restore the draining system almost to its new condition. With our Hydro jet cleaning system we can remove grease build up, sand, mud and large debris from your system; ensuring that the drains will flow more freely.
Commercial drain cleaning maintenance plans are available.
James Vito is serious about keeping your drain lines healthy and functioning properly. We use advanced video inspection equipment to identify and locate drain line problems or potential problems. Tree roots are a common cause of pipe obstructions but certainly not the only possibility. Back graded areas, breaks, cracks; settlement & separation of drain lines etc. can be identified & located by Vito with video inspection process.
Video inspection allows Vito to View the drain line clearly from the inside of the drain pipe identifying problem areas or potential future problem causing areas of your drainage system so that they can be corrected prior to damage causing backups and flooding.
Our camera inspection may reveal cracked or crushed pipes or misalignment. James Vito will use the findings to plan the best solution to the plumbing problem. We can then clear any blockage and make the repair quickly and efficiently.
Waste piping carries your used water from the washing machine, kitchen sink, bathtubs, lavatories, and toilets to either the city sewer or septic system. The type of material used to make the piping varies upon the time in which you home was made and the application.
Most homes built prior to 1955 were made of cast iron pipe and the pipe was joined by fittings called hub joints that were poured with lead. Some cast iron piping is still used today, typically from the main sewer in the street to 2 feet on the property line and are connected by service weight gaskets, or fernco couplings with sheer bands.
During the Vietnam war era, a compressed cardboard soaked and hardened called Orangeburg was used a substitute to save metal, over a course of time the piping starts absorbing liquid and begins to flatten, closing off the flow of waste water.
Prior to 1950 some piping was mad with a clay pipe or Terracotta. The joints were sealed with concrete this piping has an outside that was either round or octagonal. Over the course of time the integrity of the pipe remained good but the joints revealed hair line cracks and allowed tree or bush roots to penetrate and eventually fills the pipe with a root ball. Asbestos piping was popular in the 60’s and 70’s but proved to have it’s own health issues as well as not standing the course of time.
PVC piping is the predominate material used in waste piping since 1985. The joints are glued as some describe but in actuality a primer is used to open the pores of the outside pipe and a PVC glue is used to melt the pipe and fittings together making an impenetrable seal. Repair or replacement can be done by either trenching or replacing some or all the piping to include cleanouts on the exterior of the home for easy accessibility, or a trench less method that either pulls a liner or sprays a substance coating the interior of the existing pipe.
