If your home isn’t flooding, your pipes are in good shape, right? You don’t need repiping services, right?

Maybe. But at the same time, maybe not.

The answer depends on several factors. When was your home built? What material are the pipes made from? Have sections been replaced before? Are you experiencing recurring leaks, corrosion, pressure problems, or discolored water?

Luckily, you don’t need to wait for a major leak before taking action. As part of our plumbing services, Vito Services provides professional repiping in Rockville, MD, including whole home repiping when aging or deteriorated supply piping needs extensive replacement. If you aren’t sure whether your pipes need a localized repair or more extensive replacement, our plumbers can inspect the accessible plumbing and explain what they find.

Concerned about the condition of your home’s pipes? Contact Vito Services to schedule a plumbing evaluation.

Watch For The Signs That Something Is Wrong

Even though you can’t see a large portion of your plumbing, exposed piping and changes in water delivery can provide useful clues. One symptom doesn’t automatically mean you need whole home repiping, but recurring or widespread problems deserve professional evaluation.

  • Your Home Has Older Supply Piping. Age alone doesn’t determine when pipes need replacement. However, older homes may contain piping materials that have deteriorated or are no longer commonly installed. Identifying the pipe material and evaluating its condition provides better information than relying on the home’s age alone.

  • Your Pipes Show Visible Corrosion. Check exposed piping in areas such as basements, utility rooms, and crawlspaces. Discoloration, flaking, staining, corrosion, or mineral deposits around fittings can indicate deterioration or previous leakage.

  • You Have Recurring Supply-Pipe Leaks. One isolated leak may require only a localized repair. Multiple leaks developing in different areas can indicate that a larger portion of the piping system is deteriorating.

  • Your Water Is Discolored. Yellow, brown, or reddish water can have several causes, including corrosion within plumbing or issues with the water supply. Persistent discoloration should be investigated before assuming repiping is necessary.

  • Water Pressure Has Changed. Corrosion, mineral buildup, leaks, valves, and other conditions can contribute to low or inconsistent water pressure. A plumber can determine whether the supply piping is responsible.

  • Previous Repairs Are Adding Up. If sections of supply piping have been repaired repeatedly, comparing the condition of the remaining system with the cost of continued repairs can help determine whether broader replacement makes sense.

Whole Home Repiping vs. Pipe Repair

Finding a leaking or corroded pipe doesn’t automatically mean the entire house needs new piping. If damage is confined to one accessible section and the surrounding plumbing remains in suitable condition, a localized repair may solve the problem.

Whole home repiping becomes a consideration when deterioration is widespread, leaks continue appearing in different locations, or the existing piping material and condition make repeated repairs impractical. Repiping replaces applicable hot and cold water supply lines with new piping rather than continuing to repair individual failures as they occur.

Before recommending whole home repiping, Vito Services evaluates the accessible plumbing, symptoms you’ve experienced, existing pipe material, and extent of deterioration.

We Can Replace Different Types Of Piping

We understand why homeowners can be hesitant to replace pipes that are still delivering water. The decision should be based on the condition of the plumbing rather than assuming every older system needs immediate replacement.

Since 1934, Vito Services has helped homeowners repair and replace residential plumbing systems. Depending on the project and applicable requirements, replacement piping may include copper or CPVC. Each material has different installation characteristics, so our plumbers can explain the options appropriate for your Rockville home.

Copper Repiping

Copper has a long history in residential water distribution systems. It is rigid, handles hot and cold water applications, and is available in different types and sizes depending on the installation. Existing conditions, water characteristics, project requirements, and budget can factor into whether copper makes sense for a particular repiping project.

CPVC Repiping

CPVC is a plastic piping material designed for hot and cold potable water distribution. It is resistant to many forms of corrosion that affect metal piping and can provide an alternative to copper in applicable installations. Our plumbers can determine whether CPVC is appropriate for the home’s plumbing configuration and project requirements.

What To Expect During Whole Home Repiping

Whole home repiping requires access to existing supply lines throughout the property. Before work begins, our plumbers evaluate the piping layout and determine how new lines can be routed while limiting unnecessary disruption.

Planning The New Piping

We identify the fixtures and appliances supplied by the water distribution system and plan the applicable hot and cold water lines. Pipe sizing, routing, shutoff locations, and connections all need to account for the home’s plumbing configuration.

Accessing Existing Plumbing

Some piping may be accessible in basements, utility spaces, or other unfinished areas, while lines inside walls or ceilings may require access openings. The amount of access required depends on the home’s construction and existing pipe routing.

Installing The Replacement Lines

New piping is routed and connected to the applicable fixtures and equipment. Connections, supports, valves, and other components are installed according to the requirements of the selected piping system.

Checking The Completed System

Once the applicable piping has been replaced, the system is checked for leaks and proper operation. Fixtures are tested to confirm water delivery before the plumbing portion of the project is considered complete.

Vito was very accommodating to provide discounts for a 2 year contract as well as for Veterans. We just renewed with Vito after a year that had multiple plumbing and heating issues. Because we had a contract ["VIP"], we did not have to pay Emergency surcharges for service when we had a water heater issue and again for a heater problem. Their techs are very polite and professional. They also are very patient in answering my questions and educating me on how our systems work. For the semi-annual HVAC checks, they do not try to slip in extra unneeded services and do a thorough job.

This was my first experience with Vito Services. I had our annual check for the heating system done. The technician Danny exceeded my expectations. He showed up on time and after sending me a text. He was friendly but no nonsense. He focused on the work, was diligent and respectful, and communicated well about he was doing and the results of his inspection, which included the main heater and all of the radiators throughout the house. The price I was charged was the same as the price I had been quoted without any pressure to buy services that I didn't want or need. He cleaned up after himself too. All in, an excellent service and great value for the money. I will definitely use Vito Services again.
